scrap yarn heart

After weaving in all the ends of a project, I like to keep all the bits and pieces of the yarn in a little box, ties little knots and link them together and became a multi-colored yarn.

It's very fun to use them for knitting, as you will never know the color pattern until you have finished the project.

When you start knitting, you can either hide all the knots at the wrong side if you wish, or just let the knots show if you are a more carefree person.

I have knitted a little heart and a little bunny using this approach. What can you think of to knit? Please share with me :)

union jack cushion

This cushion is knitted for my friend's house warming.
This is knitted with the intarsia technique.
At first it seems a bit chaotic as there is like 10 bobbins hanging at the same time,

but it turns out fine and actually a bit fun to do!
Especially when I see the final product,
it is totally worth it.

The pattern is fronm the book Picture Perfect Knits by Laura Birek

*edited: just learned to add watermarks for the photos! I'm so excited!!!!

fair isle cardigan for myself

I challenged myself using a fine yarn for a fair isle cardigan,
and the result is very satisfying.
The stitches are so fine that it is hard to made believed that this is a hand-knitted garment.

This is a bottom-up cardigan, knitted in round, with technique of knitting fair isle and the scary steek. (turns out not so scary... but it always creeps me out when cutting the garment with scissors!!!!!!!!)

Using some books and websites as reference, I worked out the pattern by myself. I would like to type out a clearer version someday, when I have time for that. And I guess I have lost some of the pages in my chaotic yarn stash... Hope I can share with you some day! :)

I also added a little something for my very own knits, got the buttons and labels on etsy :) lovelovelove
